Hello, everyone!
My husband and I are new tank owners. We have a 90 gallon freshwater tank with 7 fish, artificial plants, several hiding caves, towers, logs & gravel substrate. The tank has been up and running for a little over two weeks. We started out with 5 fish two days after setting up the tank, and then added two more fish about a week ago.
This morning, the Ammonia was .50, Nitrate was 20, Nitrite 0, and Ph was 7.4 (this number has been fluctuating between 7.4 and 7. , we add a teaspoon of lake salt every day. We added stabilizer (we put a capfull in every other day) this morning. We feed the fish once per day in the evening.
Everything seemed to be going along ok until a couple of days ago. We started noticing cloudiness in the tank. Every time we try to call the aquarium where we purchased everything, they either don't call us back, they try to sell us something or we end up talking to some kid who really doesn't sound like they know what they're doing.
We don't want our tank to be someone else's science experiment - we want to get it right the first time. We fully expect to end up losing some fish, but don't want them ALL dead either.
To be honest, we're really not sure what we're doing. We've been trying to read up on things, but we're still at a bit of a loss. My husband would really love to be able to just talk to someone who is either a breeder or someone who is REALLY experienced in what they are doing and can lend us their expertise.
Is there anyone out there willing to help us and willing to talk by phone? I would love to be able to sit on my computer and watch these forums all day, but I have an infant daughter and a 3 year old, so I really just don't have the time and my husband just doesn't use the computer at all.
I know asking someone to call us is a bit unorthodox for the internet, but after all the money we just spent on getting this thing set up, I want things to go as smoothly as possible. You can even call us collect, I don't even care!
If you feel you have the time and are willing to help please, please PLEASE give us at a call at (New York) 631-476-0791. Oh, and if you want to see some pictures of our tank set up, please feel free to click on/copy and paste this link: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=100855&id=66310429 6&l=786936a052 These pics were taken a couple of days after putting the first 5 fish in the tank, so you won't see two of the fish we have.
Thank you so much for reading!
