They are impossible to sex and have never been bred in an Aquarium before. They are now being bred n dirt ponds in Asia.

i see i heard that once before, it seems odd i was reading on how they mate and its pretty wild, what they doo is in the dirt and muddy ponds they dig a hole in the land/wall of the pond 2 times there size in lenth and then just tall enought that there top fin does not touch. then they swim in a circles for a while and thats there mating way its kinda cool.

Pleco's have mated in Aquarium before I;ve seen in and I've bought off breeders here where I live. The females of the Pleco species are in fact larger than the males once mature. Other wise they're are no visible differences and venting will do nothing...good luck with that anyways lol

If you have a large tank with lots of hiding/ deep substrate this can be accomplished, since they dig tunnels to breed. Other wise your more likley to have mating occur in a pond.
