Hi all. Any help wold be appreciated! My blue zebra (I think that's what he is) is sitting on the floor of the tank kind of laying on his side. I know that about 5 days ago he got in a lip lock with my red zebra. Since then I haven't seen him much. Yesterday we changed water and vacuumed gravel so he had to come out of his cave. This morning I got up and he is sitting on the bottom of the tank kind of on his side and is obviously very distressed. His lips do look a little red. Think it could be an infection from the lip lock? Or some kind of disease? Other than the reddish lips he has no other wounds or signs of any disease...Any have suggestions? Don't want to loose him!! Thanks...

The only thing you can do for this fish is to put him in another small tank (by himself) and put 1 tsp of aquarium salt for every 5 gals of water. You may want to try some melafix also which is nothing more then methane blue. Its used for healing. other than that, it sounds like it may be too late for this little one. Good luck.

Hey MM, thx for getting back to me. I've been meaning to buy a small tank for months and keep forgetting, and of course now I'm broke! LOL! I really don't know what to think about him now. This morning when I woke up he was swimming around fine and then the big red zebra that he got in a fight with before started chasing him and he went right back to the same spot at the bottom of the tank. It looks like that same red zebra took over his cave after we cleaned the tank. At this point I'm wondering if he's just moping cuz he lost his home??? Not sure what's going on, but I'll keep an eye on him and let u know! Thanks again!

P.S. Just got a pic of him to attach and it kind of looks like he has a sore on his head. His lips are still a little red and flaky, but looks less red than yesterday...Maybe he's healing...Not sure about the spot on his head though...

Is that spot on the fish the same colors as the mouth, a kind of rusty color? Remove the fish, he is under stress and may get sicker. When the sore goes away you can put the fish back in the tank but this time add lots and lots of hiding. There seems to be not enough hiding for this little one to feel safe.
