I really like the Julies and thinking about getting a couple myself. Apon reading and investigating them, I have found out several very interesting things.

First off, they pair up and once they do, they remain pairs for life. Once paired, rearranging the tank is out of the question. The stronger of the two will kill off the other from stress. They mark their boundries by the way the tank is decorated.

The female gets bigger than the male and only the trained eye can determine sex of the two before then.

They do very well in the mbuna tank and will defend themselves for territorial reasons.

Their fry need to have shrimp brine for survival and if not than most likely only 10 percent will survive. Got that statistic off another forum.

While spawning, they scatter the eggs. Not in bunches like Malawian mouthbrooders do.

i know i have to get better at this, but he called them Blue Zebras. the real name, i will get next time I go back. i have to start writing these names down so I'll know what i have. lol

these are cool fish. they are more deep purple than blue, with black stripes and gold fins. they hide out in the rocks most of the time...and i notice they will not eat from the top or middle of the tank. so i got them sinking pellets and they happy now. lol

The Julies are nice, i agree. i dont know if i have a pair, but they hang out together and chase each other. its hard to tell if the bigger one is fighting or playing. the only difference i can tell is the bigger ones fins have lots of color and the other doesnt. the other fish dont bother them...its true what i said...they truly do...patrol the tank. lol

Apparently no one caught what I said in my very last post here. Here is the quote, can you see what's wrong with this statement Rolling Eyes
