We have (14) 1.5 week old peacocks. They have spots already.
We have two more OB mothers brooding right now. One of them looks quite large in the mouth. She is holding a large brood. Both mothers have only been holding for a few days. I also have a Snow white socolofi holding again. This is her 4th brood. It's time to seperate her from Kenny period. I usually let her spit right into the community tank but this time I want to take her out of the community tank for good to keep this from happening again. The first brood that I kept from them all came out looking like female kenyi but they were duller in their stripes. Someone adopted them from me. It was a large brood of 27 I think. I will give this brood up for adoption as well. It ought to be a huge brood. I did keep two of her offspring from the last brood as they ended up surviving in the community tank. They are beautiful. They are a very light neon blue, almost white. I may have to consider setting up the other 29 gal tank for all these babies. Still waiting on babies from the johannis, ahlis, and bumble bees. No such luck yet. My acei are spawning, no surprise there. Just thought I would share.

just wondering if you let nature take it's course and let the mom have the fry in the tank and what happens - happens or do you try to strip her out or taek her out and place in a seperate tank. I have a small tank set up for any fry or even teh mom and fry, I just cant seem to catch her. too many hiding places and I dont feel like resetting up the tansk just to get her out

Stripping a mom depends on what she is holding. If she is holding her own kind, that she spawned with her own kind, then I will strip them. When I let a fish release into the community tank it's because she has a mix brood in her. Like my white socolofi is holding a mix between the socolofi and kenyi. Even though these two fish come from the same family, if I wanted to trade these fish in for supplies or other fish, I wouldn't get anything for them. They are not of same species parents. It's horrible to say but they are worthless. And to sell them under false pretenses is wrong. Sure they look like kenyi but the trained eye will know they are mixed. So I can either keep them and give them away for free or let her spit them into the community tank and let nature takes it's course. If I tried to save every fish these two fishes have spawned together, I would have over 100 mixed fish by now and no place to keep them and not everybody wants mixed fish. They are hard to even give away. I will keep these ones and hopefully find someone who wants them. By all means, it's just wrong to let them mate to start with, but what are you going to do. 4 spawns later and I have decided to seperate the two to keep this from happening again. I didn't want two community tanks but now it looks like I will have to have two. I have a 125 gal community tank, a 29 gal grow out tank, a 10 gal nursing tank, and a 5 gal brooding tank. I have another 29 gal tank sitting out in the garage as well as a couple more 5 gals but I don't like having all these tanks up as my apartment is very small. By the looks of things, I am going to have to set up the other 29 gal tank for the baby ob peacocks as there will surely be a lot of them. I still have a huge batch of 25 juvie peacocks in my community tank that are getting big enough now to get rid of. I was kind of hoping for them to get big enough so I could pick the ones I want to keep, meaning I would have to wait for them to mature to pick the most colorful or the ones that I wanted most. They are all nearly 2 inches long now, so it shouldn't be much longer. I just want a couple males and the rest can go for trade.
