Don't feed him again till we know what's going on. It may be that he is just over fed or could be blocked

I'm feeding them a mix of spirluna and cichlid pellets two times a day, and zucchini once a week.

Someone else here just lost a fish to what they think is Malawi Bloat and also they were giving their fish veggies once a week. You may want to up your veggies to 2-3 times a week and protein 2-3 times a day.

I only cut the zucchini into half rings and let it float on top. I put about 3 slices/6 pieces. As for romaine lettice I put one leaf cut into 2/3 pieces and clip it on the side of the tank.

They make suction clips that hang to the inside of the tank. In most stores they come looking like little nemo. You cut the zucchini in long strips without the skin and clip it into the tank, same with the romaine lettuce. Take off one large leaf, rinse it well and hang from the clip inside tank.

I would never make fun of anyone's ignorance.

Getting to the question "will they eat it right away" The answer is usually not. Sometimes it takes a couple hours for them to stop investigating it and realize that it food. But once they do realize, they will never wait again when they see you putting it in the tank. That is unless you change veggies. I stick with romaine because my fish personally like it. Other people use the zucchini because their fish like it. Some are lucky enough to have their fish like both products.

Good luck.
