just over 5 weeks running, first fish after 4 days, and then every 4 days after, total 7 cichlids and 6 but now 4 danios.
tank clouded after 1.5 weeks and then cleared up.
ammonia started going up 2.5 weeks in. introduced ammonia remover media in the filter.
tank has continued to be cloudy for the past 2 weeks and only help from the aquarium store was to do a couple of 50% water changes and keep doing 10% daily.
during the last 2 weeks the cloudy tank has started turning green. when i hold a water sample to the light it is light greenish.
took in water to get tested. ammonia 0.25, ph 8.0, hardness 80, 0 chlorine, alkalinity 150, nitrate 20 , nitrite 10. i know the last to value is very high and i dont know why my fish are still alive
i have a canister filter with ammonia remover, bio max, and carbon, and foam pads.
i was told to clean the pads, rinse the filter out, replace some of the carbon to try and get some of the cloudiness out of the water, and to not leave the light on for long periods of time.
i probably over feed the first week or week and half. but while doing water changes i have used the vacuum to pick up all of the extra crap in the substrate.
so, the fish dont look like they are stressing at all or very much. they look like they are still behaving normally.
i also have brushed down the walls in the tank several time to stop any algae from growing and i have cleaned off the fake plants.
the aquarium store said the i am doing everything that i can; and just keep up with the daily water changes.
so thats what it going on.
today the water still continues to be cloudy green. its not very nice to look at.
