Hi

We are currently looking for a new staple flake (NO COLOR-ENHANCING HORMONES!!!) for our fish. Of course, we'll still supplement with the usual pellets, frozen and live stuff, but we're not terribly happy with the flake we're feeding now and it's time for a change. This is also an opportunity for me to test the 'poll' feature. Please use it, and respond to this post explaining what you feed (including supplements) for optimal growth and breeding. I think this could help us all.

I keep all Mbuna. I feed them O.S.I. spirulina Pellets, Hikari cihclid pellets, and TetraCichlid cichlid flakes. They seem to devour all the above Laughing I like the flakes because then the little ones can fit them in their lil mouths better. BTW I soak the pellets in a glass of their aquarium water. Been wanting to try some live brine shrimp or daphnia to see how they enjoy those.

Hi,
We use AquaSelect brand flake food. The types we use are: Regular flake, Brine Shrimp flake, Spirulina flake,
Natural Colour Enhancing flake. We also use Nutrafin Max sinking food tabs for our catfish etc. We HIGHLY recommend Tetrabits for VERY enhanced colours - all naturally. Our fish seem to go crazy for these brands. We also crush ramshorn snails that we pull out of tanks for the Africans - they love that too.

I got some frozen brine shrimp, San Francisco bay brand. Enriched with spirulina. My africans seem to love it so far. My 55 gallon looks like a feeding frenzy when I disolve the cube alittle in my fingers, and let the shrimp seperate.

I feed frozen bloodworms and emerald entree as treats.

For a staple, I feed a mixture of OSI cichlid flake, Hikari staple, wardley shrimp pellets, and Omega One spirulina/color pellets.

For the little guys after they're off brine shrimp we feed Spectrum Grow.

That cyclopeeze stuff is great for newborn vic and tang fry. The put on weight rapidly and being so small, it gives them a bit of a head start.

I use bio-blend Herbivore fish flakes. Since I have been keeping mbuna in my tank lately, they usually stay at the bottem, near the most rock work, they almost never come up for the flakes that float, but the Bio-blend flakes are heavy enogh to sink fairly quickly, which is perfect for my fish.
