Hi folks.
This time I have a sick exasperatus.
Symptoms:
Labored breathing, slightly frayed fins (though not enough to suggest fin rot), clamped fins, loss of appetite, lack of activity (he hangs around near the top of the tank, and has occaisionally been see lurking around in the caves). He has no white spots, no visible parasites, no redness around his fins or gills, and does not show signs of fish assault. Generally, he looks good.
All the other fish in the tank look and behave as one would expect.
Environment:
ph is at 8.o
Ammonia is around .25 ppm
Nitrite is at 0
Nitrate is around 20 ppm.
I have been battling a mildew buildup on the inside of the stand as a result of water evaporation; I would say this shouldn't be an issue BUT I use a wet dry which I keep under the tank in the stand (I'm developing a plan involving a refugium; look for future posts...).
Any thoughts? I will offer any additional information where needed. As always your advice is greatly appreciated.
