hi , was wondering if anyone can tell me how long my albino zebra should be holding for? i would say it's been 2 and a half weeks now,no eating, definitly holding something but won't let me see in her mouth. i'm just worried that the stress might kill her or the fact that she isn't eating.

Most mouth brooders don't eat while they are carrying. You should be seeing little offspring here in the next week. Average wait is 21 days. Some fish 30 days. Did you take mom out of community tank and put her in a nursing tank?

thank you. yes i moved her but it wasn't that long ago. i read somewhere to leave her in the comunity the whole time till about 4 days before she should spit. i've been worried about it this is my first time having any breeding going on in my tank. by the way the father is a blue zebra, i know this is not common.but i am dieing to see what the babies look like. i've also been told that this was just a fluke!(never should of happened)and that chances are she won't spawn at all.

Yea well I don't believe in "flukes" any longer with my fish mating. Half of them mate with whom ever they choose.

You need to get Spirulina flakes for the babies. When they come, Grind the flake up between your fingers and give to the babies. Make sure you use your finger to swirl the food down to the bottom of the tank, they wont be able to come to the top of the water for a few days.

Good luck
