I just had a spawn in my tang community tank and there is about 50 baby bricardi swimming around and I was just wonder whether anybody had any suggestions on how to retreive them. I thought of just the dip net but I dont want to hurt them, I've even considered the gravel vac. any thought would be greatly appreciated.
ps. they spawned on the botom of the tank so the idea of dimply removeing something is out.

Scoobs,
Why would you want to remove them?? the Brichardi take care of there babbies. Sure you might loose a few to preditation whith what you have in there, but I'm wondering if it wouldnt be better to leave things alone as far as upsetting the balance of what just got started in your tank?
Just a thought maybe some one else could comment further. Your problem is the calvus of coarse.

When you just notice the fry swimming is probably the only time you can get any number of them out. Pay attention to where they are hanging out and watch where they go to 'sleep'. They will likely be in a shell or cave... if you're lucky. You can just lift that out during the night or early in the morning and place it in a fry tank.
But if it were me (this is what I do), I would just leave them in the tank. I'm not really out to gather them for sale, just watch their behavior... it's really cool when you get older fry defending the younger ones... many generations in the same tank. Behavior is what Tanganyikans are all about!
Even if you do choose to gather some out this way, you'll end up leaving a few, so maybe you can get the best of both worlds this way.

I decided to leave them in the tank and there all doing great, I havn't really noticed any missing. Like you all said the behavior is amazing I love it, hours of amusement. To anyone in this situation for the first time I would strongly suggest leaving it alone, you can learn alot.
thanks for the suggestions
